When I was in high school I don’t have any idea what course to take in college, all I know is to play playstation games all day long. I have some friends also who are so freak with PC games and they encourage me to play star craft and counter strike that time. There is this one day that after we played counter strike my other friend invite me to have some snacks at his place, after we went there I saw his brother watching this fight scene animation that is really cool, its just a simple drawing but the fighting scene really kicks butt and I think they use flash tool for that animation and that very moment really caught my attention, interest and ask how did they do that? It’s very cool and fun. Somebody told me that computer programmers did that. hehehe.. no earth that time. So I decided to study programming.
I studied BSIT in University of San Jose-Recoletos and the first two years I have there really makes my brain numb. Solving problems in C, C++ and Java gives me headache. Sometimes I wonder if I could survive this kind of course, asking myself if I really want this kind of profession because sometimes I feel that I don’t belong here. Apparently, in my third year in college I met Visual Basic 6 who is very friendly to me, encourage me to like programming, after that VB6 introduced me to MS Access, MS SQL Server and Oracle who gives me light and hope to love programming. I developed small projects like enrollment system, VB games like snake, solitaire and more. I was surprised despite of all the doubts in my mind that I have also skills in programming. So when I took my IT project or thesis we decided to developed airline information system using Visual Basic 6, MS Access and Crystal Report, we chose this kind of project because all 3 of us in the team never been in an Airplane… lolz .. hahaha… anyways I acted as a lead programmer of this project, for our references we gathered information, form fields and system flow from middle east travel agency. I’m really thankful that I successfully designed and defended my project and got one of the coolest projects that semester, they also featured that at CICCT exhibit and highlight to all students who took IT project the next semester.
After I graduated I got hired as a Software Engineer at CyberTech R&D Corporation. A japanese firm who feed me hardcore java programming – J2EE (Servlet, Java, JSP), also .Net Framework C#, for client-side – Open Laszlo, AJAX, DOM, Javascript and for database – MySQL, XML and MS SQL Server. Experienced also some design patterns like command, facade, chain of responsibilities and more.. and UML – use case, class diagram, activity diagram and sequence diagram.
After 6 months I resigned as a Software Engineer in CyberTech and transferred to American Outsourcing Firm at iCatchIT Inc., I started working on Sage CRM using Classic ASP, eWare Objects and MS SQL Server (Stored Procedures, Functions, Triggers and more). I have also e-commerce projects using drupal CMS and Online Exam website using PHP and MySQL. I also developed E-Commerce website using Open Laszlo, MySQL and PHP using XML RPC. I went also to Brunei for eSikap project (Housing development system) a government in Brunei, using technologies .Net Framework – ASP.net, VB.net and MS SQL Server.
After 1 year and 4 months at iCatchIT I was amazed that I was promoted as a Senior Software Engineer, who brought me to developed EZSMS Project a SMS gateway that connects other application to send SMS to phone using this gateway – IP to SMS, Email to SMS and Desktop to SMS. using DOM, Javascipt, MySQL and PHP5 with MVC pattern, this project will integrate to Jollibee Worldwide Services projects that we developed – JWS Recruitment System and JWS Training system. I created also the architectural pattern and proof of concept for FSC Audit System from JWS. Right now I am developing my current project which is iPhone handheld for ACT. This application is for iPhone device which allows user to synchronized contact information from ACT server and vice-versa. This application can also send email, send SMS, manage contacts from ACT and more. I am using MAC OS X for this development, Xcode and Interface builder for IDE, Objective-C is the language for this application. It’s an object-oriented programming language which adds Smalltalk-style messaging and C programming. I hope I could pull this off.
